Can I connect a macbook pro to mirror iMac for Logic Pro

My main computer is an iMac, running Logic Pro, with an external drive for samples and projects in my home 'studio'. I would like to be able to work on those projects away from the 'studio', in more comfort, on my MBP. And then, when the time comes to take my material to, say, a recording studio, I could then just take the MBP and the external drives, for convenience. What would be the best way to achieve this?
